  • Responsible for delivering UI designs for new features of BrainNavigator, a tool enabling neuroscientists to more easily visualize and understand brain structures of various animal species.

  • Wrote detailed UI specifications of new and improved BrainNavigator features.

  • Delivered low- and medium-fidelity prototypes of new and improved BrainNavigator features for use in usability testing and UI specifications.

  • Conducted in-person and remote usability testing; wrote reports on same containing prioritized findings and recommendations for improvements; delivered written reports and presentations of the results to extended team.

  • Created a comprehensive research plan to understand IT Professionals' use of technical documentation. Ensured buy-in with key stakeholders by collecting and incorporating feedback into the research plan.

  • Designed and completed the user research as outlined in the research plan. Research included a comprehensive literature review, a quantitative benchmarking study, and several qualitative low-fidelity prototype evaluations.

  • Documented and presented research findings to key stakeholders. Drove recommendations from research into specifications for future technical documentation deliverables and interfaces.

  • Filed usability and design bugs against software builds. Followed-through to ensure the bugs were given dispositions by product management. Provided periodic status to team lead and product management.

  • Architected and documented all user interfaces for eGain Service, the industry's most innovative and complete suite of customer service and contact center software.

  • Authored user interface standards for the suite, used by engineering to implement user interfaces. Ensured compliance with the standards by personally checking each implemented user interface, and filed and tracked defects through their correction.

  • Designed and documented contextual inquiry process for use with eGain customers. Executed several contextual inquiries with a variety of customers; prepared and presented detailed reports on the findings to executive-level contact center management, which generated revenue opportunities within eGain Professional Services.

  • Built highly-functional, working prototypes of key elements of the suite, iterated the prototypes based on user feedback and technical considerations, and wrote detailed specifications of the designs for use during implementation.

  • Championed eGain's participation in an independent analysis of our applications and usability process with Tristream. With Jakob Nielsen as study advisor, the report found that eGain Service "received the highest user satisfaction ranking of the applications" that were studied.

  • Responsible for interfacing with customers to gather requirements and feedback, creating actions plans to address same, and driving the plans to completion.

  • Acted as product manager for a multi-disciplinary, international team to deliver portions of the eGain Service suite.

  • Investigated and prepared briefings on competition for executive staff which was used to influence product direction.

  • Met regularly with VP of Engineering and CEO to influence product direction based on the results of user centered design activities.

  • Delivered product demonstrations at user conferences, analyst briefings, and sales calls.

Founder, High Heat Technology, San Jose, CA

  • Founder of High Heat Technology, a company that provided baseball products and services to athletes, coaches, and scouts, which facilitated a competitive edge by combining statistics and analysis with streaming video of athlete’s in-game performance.

  • Conceived, designed, and implemented an application that enables any athlete at any time to access a visual, searchable, digital video library of his performance to determine his strengths and weaknesses against any opponent. Building the application involved:

    • Designing and populating a complex SQL database, designing an intuitive, easy-to-use, highly graphical interface for use by athletes, and the presentation of statistical data to athletes in an easy to understand manner.

    • Digital video acquisition of baseball games, clipping of the game into individual at bats, compression of video clips for easier storage, coding the video clips with situational data, and on-demand presentation of the video clips to athletes.

    • Implementation of a data mining algorithm against large data sets to uncover reliable and actionable batter and pitcher tendencies.

Human Factors Engineer, IBM, San Jose, CA

  • Architected and documented all user interfaces for Intelligent Miner for Data, IBM's flagship data mining software product.

  • Built upon Mathematics degree to become proficient in several advanced data mining algorithms, including associations, clustering, classification, and predictive modeling.

  • Assisted in the integration of third-party data visualization tools that resulted in DB2 Intelligent Miner Visualization, a product that allows experts and non-experts to view and evaluate the results of the data-mining modeling process.

  • Worked on a team of usability professionals to design, prototype, test, and document user interfaces for the data warehousing and replication features of IBM DB2 Universal Database.

  • Conceived, designed, and delivered an image database for use by visual designers.
